Louisiana Business English, semester A, is designed to strengthen students’ ability to read and write in the workplace. The first unit explores the differences between business and academic writing. Students will practice research skills and study the business writing process. The second unit addresses the use of emails and instant messages in the workplace and examines the role that digital media plays in business. Students will consider how social media is used in the workplace and practice their writing skills by creating their own podcasts. The third unit covers how to format and write specific types of business messages. Students will learn best practices for writing positive, negative, and persuasive messages. Then they will use the skills they learned to write a claim letter.
