Earth and Space Science A/B
Earth and Space Science is a two-semester course designed to examine the processes and systems that shape the universe and Earth. Students will learn about the origins and structure of the universe, including stellar life cycles and the forces that govern orbital motion, the formation and evolution of the Precambrian Earth, and the materials and tectonic forces that continue to shape the planet. They will also explore the hydrosphere and atmosphere, including the interactions between Earth's major systems that drive weather, climate, and the carbon cycle. Inquiry-based activities and hands-on lab experiences are embedded throughout the course, with approximately 40 percent of student time devoted to laboratory investigations. In addition, the course covers scientific processes and methods, human interactions with Earth's systems and resources, and the use of evidence and models to understand change over time.
The materials needed for this course include specified lab materials.
