Fluency Tasks to Enable Universal Screening
We've launched 108 brand-new K-3 oral fluency tasks and oral fluency progress monitoring to enable universal screening for reading difficulties and dyslexia risk factors. Teachers use the Exact Path diagnostic in conjunction with oral fluency tasks to identify, communicate, and target the fundamental literacy needs of students to accelerate their journey to reading proficiency.
Exact Path K-3 fluency tasks are one-minute oral fluency assessments designed to calculate words per minute and reading accuracy. Students read a printed passage aloud while the teacher simultaneously records any errors on their own printed document. These tasks can be regularly administered to inform instructional needs and results can be tracked within the system for progress reporting. When the Exact Path reading diagnostic is administered in combination with a fluency task, teachers leverage the resulting data to universally screen for reading difficulties and determine whether a student has risk factors for dyslexia.

Core Middle School Course Customization
We improved the overall experience for our middle school core subject courses by offering more customization, easier assignment submission, and streamlined grading workflows.
We continue to build on an initial Apex course integration with notable improvements to the Courseware course experience, including:
- Unlocking full use of custom course builder and Flex assignments, just like any other native Courseware course
- Enabling a familiar course structure with lessons focused on instruction, practice, and mastery tests and key teacher graded activities such as practices and labs are now unit activities. This structure will carry over to the Gradebook for streamlined grading workflows.
- Creating a improved student experience for mastery tests by allowing easy test question navigation and access to student tools such as highlighters.
- Embedding assignment features so that access of introductory material, instructions, or rubrics doesn’t require leaving the page. Additionally, instructional content is embedded alongside student activities, and student answers will persist from one session to the next. When work is submitted, teachers can access responses and provide timely feedback.

On-Target Grade and Editable Target Dates
We introduced two pacing and progress-focused updates designed to help drive student accountability toward successful on-time course completion and success.
On-Target Grade offers educators and students a meaningful new data point for tracking performance, by providing an average grade of all completed and scored activities students are expected to have completed by the target date. While Current Grade provides an average of only work students have completed, and Course Grade provides an average of all work available in the course—both those activities students have and haven’t completed, On-Target Grade splits the difference, by answering the question: Based on my expectations of where students should be tracking, what is the learner’s grade right now?
Additionally, we've made On-Target Grade even more powerful by also introducing editable Target Dates. This update allows educators to make adjustments to when specific activities should be completed, either for an individual student or for entire sections. Do you want to give a specific student an extension on an activity? Edit the Target Date of when that activity is due, and the learner isn’t penalized for their tardy assignment in their On-Target Grade.

Accelerating Learning Path Progress
We know students are more engaged when they see a clear path toward success. We've accelerated the learning path experience so students can make more progress faster and educators can receive more actionable immediate data.
Augmenting the learning path means that students experience one complete skill module at a time. That most often includes a lesson, practice, and associated 5-question Progress Check allowing learners to immediately earn a mastery Trophy when they demonstrate success or address misunderstandings via a Building Block topic aligned to essential prerequisite skills. All the while, educators are presented with a faster feedback loop for real-time progress monitoring data and intentional small-group planning.

Enhanced Elementary Experience
Our youngest learners expect a friendly and instinctive experience when they learn online. We've taken that to heart by implementing a one-skill learning path design that guides focus, whilst adding important content for grade 3–5 students to strengthen scaffolding and skill progression.
The improved one-skill learning path designs will offer a true path-like visual for our earliest K–2 learners and a simple, sequenced progression for 3–5 students that eliminates any guesswork. After an exciting year bolstering content across grades K–2, we've turned our focus to investments in grades 3–5 in summer 2022, starting with 15 new or updated math lessons.

Reimagined 6+ Learner Experience
We've zeroed in on opportunities to simplify, optimize, and bring clarity to our secondary learner experience, creating a clean, accessible design for students using Courseware, Flex Assignments, Exact Path, and Assessments.
To empower our secondary learners with the ability to better answer, "What’s next?" in an environment more aligned to the modern design of technology programs they use daily, we've made essential improvements. A clean, tile-based design reduces unnecessary scrolling and uses familiar color indicators that align with different Edmentum programs while greater accessibility meets WCAG A and AA standards.

update
Copy a Section
We've made section creation easier, allowing you to copy over settings from previous sections to remove unnecessary steps in your workflow while ensuring student management and reporting stays intact.
The ability to create a new section at the start of a new year or semester by copying a section from an existing section allows educators to preserve the same section curriculum and gradebook settings from their existing section including copying instructors, section descriptions, and section instructions.

new
Mastery Test Attempt Controls
We've made it easier to set mastery test attempts at a more global level, granting administrators greater control and implementation consistency and creating less administrative work for teachers!
Mastery tests and specifically mastery test attempts are an important setting for course management. By default, students have unlimited attempts, and teachers can change this number for specific sections. We've now alleviated this section-by-section burden by allowing Program and Account level administrators to manage the number of times that students can unlock their mastery test and even setting override permissions if they wish to keep this control at the admin level.

Completed Student Report and Filter
During fall 2021, we enabled the ability to "Complete a Student," thereby preserving student records for completed courses. Now we’re adding the ability to gather critical historical data for this group of learners via an in-program filter and a new exportable report.

update
Student-Submitted Status
Students can stop questioning if their work was really submitted with the addition of a submitted status indicator in the student interface.
In Courseware and Flex Assignments, students now see a "Submitted and pending score" notification upon submitting work, thereby eliminating confusion around how learners are progressing in their coursework and reducing questions that teachers may regularly receive.

These new courses are aligned to national standards, in addition to a series of state-specific course launches for California, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Washington, and West Virginia. Throughout all of these courses, you’ll find increased opportunities for students to practice and demonstrate mastery, connections to students’ prior knowledge to stretch understanding of new concepts, and scaffolding using detailed examples and step-by-step explanations.

Grading Period Reporting
Educators now have the flexibility to add specific course breakpoints aligned to unique grading periods, both to help segment course curriculum and enable easier reporting for those specified time periods.
Curriculum administrators are now able to adjust the grading periods that display, selecting between a full year, semester, trimester, or quarter structure and adding accompanying date ranges for each chosen period. After grading period selections are made, educators can see the new grading periods by viewing the course components and leverage via two critical reports: Performance and Progress Summary as well as Target Percent Complete.

Course Unit Resequencing
Calvert partners now have the flexibility to easily control unit sequencing within a given course based on specific program, school, or district scope and sequence needs.
A designated Curriculum Administrator can drag and drop course units to resequence courses during their institution’s school year planning period, aligning the student experience to district pacing and reporting needs, without extensive manual effort to omit or skip lessons needed.

Adjust Pacing: Enabling Retakes and Omits
We've made it easier for you to adjust pacing for your learners while performing other actions that might be necessary, like granting retakes or omitting lessons. Sometimes, students need to retake several lessons after breezing too quickly through the material. Other times, students join your class midyear, and you need to help them keep pace with the rest of the class.
Using Adjust Pacing, a teacher can move a student’s pacing day backward, with options for granting retakes, as well as forward, with options for omitting lessons. In both cases, teachers can make the right choice for each student’s unique path through a course.

Support Educator Role
We've launched a new system role called Support Educator, designed specifically to grant student course visibility for school personnel such as teaching assistants, paraprofessionals, counselors, special education teachers and coordinators, and tutors.
Support Educators are granted similar permissions as Learning Guides, with the ability to view curriculum and progress, run reports, and add attendance time, therefore playing a more active role as critical stakeholders and collaborators armed with curriculum insights to empower student success. We also updated our interface experience for both Support Educators and Learning Guides, implementing both tile view and list view for navigating between multiple students to ensure that monitoring progress is as simple as possible.

Exact Path Diagnostic Flexibility
We've taken our award-winning Exact Path program and made it even more flexible and customizable for our educator partners. Schools and districts now have the ability to obtain the Exact Path diagnostic as a stand-alone option, separately from our learning paths. Do you want to assess all students, but only provide learning paths to students most in need? Are you only in search of a valid, reliable growth assessment independent of any curriculum? To support these common implementations and more, we’re proud to offer this new solution.

Enhanced Learning Path Design for K-2 Students
We know that students find greater success when they have a deep understanding of their own progress. To support our youngest students in grades K-2, we've taken the view of the learning path they see and turned it into just that, a path!
From the student interface, learners can clearly pinpoint where they are and how far they have to go before a Progress Check with each checked circle on the path representing a skill module to complete. Additionally, a single play button drops them straight into the content they should work on next, taking the guesswork out of where to go next.
As with all of our recent upgrades to the learner interface, this page now includes full accessibility meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

Admin Dashboard Updates
Our Admin Dashboard has quickly become a beloved go-to data snapshot and as such, our investment in this area has continued with one entirely new data view and some expanded options for two other existing data views. Let's take a closer look:
How many skills have students mastered?
We're bubbling up a new metric for our admins, focused entirely on skill mastery signified by trophies earned following a Progress Check in the learning path. This metric can be seen by subject and filtered for all locations or a single building to celebrate exciting student milestones and achievement. Additional drill ins and disaggregated data views to come!
Do students have learning paths?
This glimpse at learning path generation launched previously and already includes the ability to drill in and see data reported by location. Now we've added drill ins with the option to choose specific schools, individual grade levels, classes, and completely disaggregated views of student data to discern who has learning paths and who do not.
How much time do students spend on their learning paths?
Similarly, this look at time spent in the learning paths was already available with the option to drill in and see data reported by location. Now, we've added drill ins to review usage by specific schools, individual grade levels, and classes. The option for student-level drill ins is not included in this dashboard release.
