Increased Rigor and High Expectations Lead to Student Success
“Edmentum has freed up our options tremendously. . . It’s just opened a great deal of opportunity for our rural kids. They can look at themselves, they can try different things, and they can seek out their own career interest and then move forward,” said Jennifer Blake, Teacher at FLCS.
In Frankton-Lapel Community Schools (FLCS), a rural Indiana district where two small towns feed into one school system, limited resources once meant limited choices for students. Traditional scheduling and course offerings couldn’t keep pace with students’ evolving interests or career goals.
By integrating Edmentum into a blended and virtual model, FLCS restructured its high school day to offer personalized pathways. Students now explore electives aligned to their passions, pursue work-based learning, and recover credits to stay on track for graduation.
The shift has expanded access to college and career readiness, giving students in a small district the same opportunities often reserved for larger schools.
