Children’s Privacy Notice for Education Institution Services: for our education institution customers  

Children’s Privacy Notice for Individual Services: for parents or legal guardians of children under age 13 who access or use the Services outside of an education institution context, including where the Services are made available through a third‑party organization that is not an education institution. 

  

About the Edmentum Children’s Privacy Notice 

As part of our Customer Agreement, and in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we ask that our education institution customer (the “Customer”) provide us with permission authorizing our collection of personal information from students (“Student Personal Information”) under age 13 for the purpose of providing Edmentum’s Online Learning Solutions (“Services”) to those students. 

To support you in that work, we ask that you first carefully review the Edmentum Children’s Privacy Notice provided below. We also encourage you to provide it to parents of students under age 13 who will be using the Services. Please also review the Edmentum Product Privacy Policy

  

Edmentum Children’s Privacy Notice for Education Institution Services 

Last updated and effective April 22, 2026 

This Edmentum Children’s Privacy Notice is provided to help you make an informed decision about granting us permission to collect Student Personal Information from students under age 13 in order to provide the Services to those students. 

Without your permission, we will be unable to provide the Services to students under the age of 13. If you do choose to provide permission, you indicate that permission by executing our Customer Agreement. 

 

Student Personal Information We Are Asking to Collect 

Here is the Student Personal Information we intend to collect directly from students: 

  • Educational tasks and assignments completed within the Services, including student-generated content and other course work; 
  • Student screen name, image, and voice when classroom activities are conducted by an Edmentum educator via video conference. 
  • Computer Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and device ID, which we may combine with name and version of the browser, pages of the Services visited, time spent, access time and dates, and geolocation data sufficient to identify city or country and to aggregate it across all student users. 

For some of the Services, and where applicable based on the features enabled by the Customer, Student Personal Information we intend to collect directly from students may also include student-generated educational activities, such as post-secondary interest surveys and assessments, including those developed and provided by or on behalf of the Customer, course planning or post-secondary planning activities, and other educational content submitted by the student (e.g., resumes, journals and feedback). 

How We Plan to Use and Disclose the Student Personal Information: 

We may use Student Personal Information to provide the Services, including to: 

  • Customize and adapt the Services to the student’s level and provide reporting and insights to our Customers about how the Services are being used and about student progress, including improvements, coursework, and completion; 
  • Provide Customer Support, including troubleshooting issues with a student’s or Customer’s account; and 
  • Protect the security and integrity of our Services, including as necessary for fraud investigation and prevention. 

In some cases, our use of Student Personal Information requires that we share it with third parties that support us in providing the Services. You can find that list of third parties here

In addition, Student Personal Information may be disclosed as described below: 

  • Educational tasks and assignments are made available for the student, their teachers, and, if enabled by the Customer, the student’s parents; 
  • Student screen name, image, and voice when classroom activities are conducted by an Edmentum educator via video conference are made available to other classroom activity participants; 
  • We may disclose Student Personal Information to third parties when necessary to provide the Services for functions such as cloud storage, transcript mailing, and other Service-related purposes; 
  • To protect the security and integrity of the Services, including to investigate a suspected violation of our service agreement, suspected fraud, or other unlawful activity; 
  • To comply with a law or court order, in which case, where legally permitted, we shall attempt to notify the Customer and work with the Customer to seek to limit the scope of the required disclosure; 
  • In the event of a reorganization, merger, sale, assignment, bankruptcy, or other disposition of our business, we may share or otherwise transfer the Student Personal Information with the reorganized or other new entity in accordance with the terms of our Edmentum Product Privacy Policy
  • With consent as authorized by the Customer and as permissible under applicable laws and regulations. 

If we have an agreement with the Customer to conduct research, we may also use and disclose Student Personal Information to conduct that research in accordance with the terms of that agreement.

Exercising Your Rights: 

At any time, an authorized Customer representative may, for their own purposes or on behalf of a parent or legal guardian of a student under age 13, request to: 

  • review the Student Personal Information we have collected from the student; 
  • review the specific types or categories of Student Personal Information we have collected from the student; 
  • refuse to allow our further use or future online collection of Student Personal Information from the student; and  
  • request that we delete the Student Personal Information.

  • In the event of a reorganization, merger, sale, assignment, bankruptcy, or other disposition of our business, we may share or otherwise transfer the Student Personal Information with the reorganized or other new entity in accordance with the terms of our Edmentum Product Privacy Policy
  • With consent as authorized by you and as permissible under applicable laws and regulations.

Please note that we may ask you for certain information in order to confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child. However, any information we collect for this purpose will be used only to confirm your identity and for no other purpose.
