Certified Medical Assistant A/B
Certified Medical Assistant is a two-semester course designed to focus on the foundational skills and knowledge required in a clinical medical setting. Students will learn the fundamentals of patient intake, documentation, and preparing patients for screenings and examinations while learning the importance of ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Students will also learn the professional, legal, and ethical sides of working in a healthcare setting. They will also examine human anatomy, physiology, and body system functions to identify normal and abnormal conditions. Students will also learn about healthcare systems and operations, handling patient information securely, and communicating effectively with patients and healthcare teams. They will describe safety and infection control protocols and emergency response procedures. In addition, the course covers how to evaluate medications, vaccines, and immunization guidelines. The course will also teach students to practice analyzing office operations and creating efficient workflows. Students will develop and apply creativity, critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills while cultivating fortitude and a growth mindset.
This course will prepare students to earn Clinical Medical Assistant (CMAC) (AMCA) certifications.
