Nutrition A/B
Nutrition is a two-semester course designed to focus on the foundational principles of nutrition science, preparing students for careers in nutrition, dietetics, and related health fields. Students will examine the role of nutrition in promoting health and preventing disease, emphasizing evidence-based dietary guidelines and nutrient functions, including how the body processes nutrients. Students research food safety protocols and study cooking techniques and meal-planning strategies. Students will analyze special dietary considerations. They will also learn about the components of and operation of the food industry, food safety regulations, and career pathways in the field of nutrition. Students explore career planning and evaluate professional skills necessary for career success. Additionally, students will develop and apply research, critical thinking, and communication skills.
