Principles of Architecture and Construction A/B
Principles of Architecture and Construction is a two-semester course designed to promote understanding of the foundational concepts, careers, and professional practices in the architecture and construction field. Students will examine architectural styles and drawing principles, physical properties of structures, construction materials and equipment, and legal building requirements and safety regulations. The course places a particular focus on computer applications, urban design, and construction documents and standards. In unit activities, students will analyze career pathways in architecture and construction, apply knowledge of workplace ethics and professionalism, and examine the process of creating a built environment. Students will also demonstrate professional communication skills, use word processing and spreadsheet software to create professional documents, and explore lifelong-learning skills for career growth in the field.
