What This Means for Nevada Educators

Nevada law requires all distance learning courses to be approved by the Nevada Department of Education before they can be offered to students for credit. With 490 approved courses spanning core academics, honors, AP, CTE, fine arts, and world languages, Nevada schools and districts have the curricula they need to encourage curiosity, keep learners engaged, and meet students where they are — without the risk of offering courses that fall outside state requirements.

Research-Driven Results

  • A third-party ESSA II study confirms Courseware significantly improves Algebra 1 achievement, a documented predictor of graduation success, with 9th grade students showing a +5 NWEA MAP percentile rank increase compared to peers not using Courseware.
  • Another third-party ESSA II study showed students who completed at least one Courseware course demonstrated 23% fewer absences and 33% fewer tardies — key indicators of engagement and persistence toward graduation.
  • At San Diego Virtual School, original credit course completion rates increased 11% and credit recovery completion rates increased 30% with Courseware, with 2022 graduation rates reaching 90.3% — above the state average of 87.4%.
