Career Interest Explorer: Discover in Grades 6-8

Career Interest Explorer: Discover in Grades 6–8 is a mini-course designed to help students connect their academic learning to their interests and skill development, fostering future-oriented thinking and meaning, especially as learning demands increase. By integrating personal exploration with students' future goals, the course aims to empower them to take control of their achievements.

The course includes developmentally appropriate learning and active engagement in exploring career possibilities based on their skills and interests. It uses the Career Interest Explorer inventory to help students better understand their interests and encourages them to explore various career options through resources such as O*net. This exploration process includes targeted skill development in setting goals and taking action to achieve goals.

Additionally, the course focuses on essential, durable skills valued by all employers and applicable across all career paths. These skills include mindfulness, creativity, and developing a growth mindset, which supports exploration and innovative thinking.
