Texas Principles of Manufacturing A/B

Texas Principles of Manufacturing is a two-semester course designed to promote understanding of the history, processes, and systems of the manufacturing industry. Students will examine the evolution of manufacturing and engineering, materials and tools used in production, engineering design, and mass, lean, and agile production systems. The course places a particular focus on quality control, maintenance, and the relationship between marketing and manufacturing. In unit activities, students will create and assess engineering drawings, produce a production schedule, and use statistical tools and mathematical calculations to improve manufacturing processes. Students will also evaluate career opportunities and the skills and characteristics required for success in the manufacturing field.
