Exact Path Diagnostic and Tennessee's Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) Linking Study
Brief
Full Report
Exact Path diagnostic assessments yield highly accurate predictions of student results on the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) tests. This research study linked fall, winter, and spring Exact Path diagnostic scores to spring TCAP scores across grades 3-8 in mathematics and English Language Arts. Linking study results demonstrated that Exact Path diagnostic scores can be used to predict whether students would be above or below the TCAP proficient cut score with 76- to 88-percent accuracy.
In preparation for TCAP tests, educators can use Exact Path diagnostic results to:
- predict students’ proficiency on TCAP
- identify students who need additional support
- prioritize content areas to focus on
- inform data-driven instruction and targeted intervention
