Edmentum, a leading provider of technology-driven individualized learning solutions, announces new Edmentum course approvals under the University of California “a-g” program for the 2016–17 school year. Edmentum has had a total of 80 semester-length courses approved during this year’s “a-g” approval window, bringing the total number of Edmentum courses approved to 173, which makes Edmentum the #1 online course provider in terms of total courses approved for the second straight year under the University of California “a-g” program.
With the recent announcement of the College Readiness Block Grant coming into effect, $200 million will be allocated to schools and districts across California to provide high school students with additional support to prepare for higher education and the completion of an undergraduate degree within four years. A portion of Edmentum’s approved “a-g” college preparation courses is also covered under each local education agency’s plans to use this additional funding.
“We are proud of our long history of creating online curriculum built to state standards,” said Rob Rueckl, Edmentum’s chief executive officer. “These ‘a-g’ approvals emphasize our commitment to offering California school districts the largest library of online instructional resources available to them in the state, providing them the flexibility they need to achieve their unique educational goals.”
Edmentum shows its commitment to putting the best resources in students’ hands by providing solid, research-based curriculum built from the ground up to align with each state’s specific academic standards. In addition to the University of California “a-g” program, Edmentum has over 3,000 course approvals by agencies in 20 states, as well as by six national third-party organizations: Certica Solutions, ISTE, Quality Matters, the College Board, the GED® Publisher Program, and the NCAA. These organizations set the standards for quality assurance in online learning and help solidify Edmentum as the industry leader in standards-based online curriculum.
Edmentum’s courses demonstrate how student achievement is valued by optimizing the blended and virtual learning experience with state approvals and certifications. The “a-g” approval recognizes the strong alignment of its curriculum to state specific standards.
