Edmentum, a leading provider of online learning solutions, and Redmond Proficiency Academy (RPA) in Redmond, Ore., have announced a partnership that will provide learners with a variety of engaging and accredited online learning opportunities – both inside and outside of the classroom.
RPA, a public charter school serving students in grades six through 12, will begin offering Edmentum’s EdOptions Academy, Plato Courseware and Edmentum Assessments on Jan. 28, 2013. The new learning solutions are tuition-free and open to all students in Central Oregon, including current RPA students, home-schooled students or students seeking to enroll in RPA’s unique and personalized proficiency-based educational program.
“As a charter school, we are keenly attuned to new approaches and materials that reflect the unique needs of all learners,” said RPA Director Jon Bullock. “When we evaluated the achievement results following our pilot with Edmentum solutions, we knew these learning solutions were powerful. We could actually measure how well different learners responded to the content and individualize the learning based on their strengths and needs.”
The 2012 pilot program tested two Edmentum learning solutions: Plato Courseware and Edmentum Assessments. The Edmentum solutions, which are used across core, elective, Advanced Placement® and global language courses, resulted in measurable gains in learner achievement.
Edmentum’s learning solutions will provide RPA learners with a wide range of digital learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom – and the boundaries of the district. EdOptions Academy is a fully accredited virtual high school that partners with schools and districts to provide virtual courses, expanding and enhancing their course and program offerings. Plato Courseware covers a wide range of core subjects, electives, global languages, honors and Advanced Placement® offerings. Edmentum Assessments help teachers understand students’ unique needs to effectively guide instruction and prepare a personalized learning path.
“Our partnership with Redmond Proficiency Academy signals the school’s commitment to 21st century learning,” said Edmentum CEO Vin Riera. “By providing access to personalized, interactive learning opportunities – from student-unique assessments to online coursework and a comprehensive, virtual high school – this school is giving students new pathways to academic success.”
