Two Edmentum Programs Approved for 2022-2023 Indiana Formative Assessment Grant
Indiana’s #1 Digital Curriculum Partner Leads the Way in Driving Student Achievement

Bloomington, MN - May 10, 2022 - Improving K-12 academic performance in Indiana starts by benchmarking each student's learning needs and guiding classroom instruction at individual and small-group levels. With two of its assessment programs approved for the 2022-2023 Indiana Formative Assessment Grant, Edmentum, a global education leader and pioneer in online teaching and learning solutions, accelerates academic growth and boosts grade-level proficiency.

The Indiana Formative Assessment Grant program provides funding to schools for approved formative (interim) assessment programs that increase data-driven instructional practices and enrich learning for all students. All assessment providers must undergo a rigorous approval process by applying to the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) to align with Indiana academic standards and provide performance projections on statewide assessments.

Only eight academic assessment programs were approved for the 2022-2023 school year, including two offered by Edmentum:

  • Exact Path, approved for grades 3–8, offers a reliable and predictable benchmark assessment to measure growth and standards proficiency against the Indiana Academic Standards. Exact Path also includes a grade K-12 diagnostic assessment that will place students individually on an adaptive learning path to differentiate learning at the individual level.
  • Study Island, approved for grades 3–8, offers a reliable benchmark for Indiana Corporates to use to determine growth and proficiency outcomes of students in an individual or aggregated view. Study Island also includes a comprehensive library of items within the formative assessment tools in Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies. This comprehensive solution allows educators to deliver classroom assessments supportive of grade-level instruction, pre-, and post-topic assessments, customizable tests to determine standards mastery, and practice for state summative assessments.

"For five years running, Edmentum has been named Indiana's Top Virtual Course Provider by the IDOE. Since 2016, Edmentum has been on this list with Study Island. We are proud to offer this flexibility so that corporations can make the best solution that will work within their systems and be reportable back to IDOE" said Edmentum Chief Product Officer Todd Mahler. "We are thrilled to extend our partnership by providing Indiana schools with greater instructional continuity through our approved formative and interim assessment program."

All Indiana public school corporations, charter schools, and accredited nonpublic schools (including choice schools) for grades K-8 are eligible to receive funding for approved Edmentum assessments.

“Our school corporation has used Exact Path consistently for the last several years to help our teachers collect viable diagnostic data for instructional planning and to spur our students' academic growth through regular use of their learning paths,” said North Harrison Community School Corporation Principal Lisa Jones. “We are thrilled to see Exact Path on the state's Formative Assessment Grant list for approved expenditures. This is an excellent product from a company that is very responsive to our needs with both training and continual support.”

The grant window runs July 11 – August 1, 2022, and applications can be submitted on the IDOE's website.

“For five years running, Edmentum has been named Indiana’s Top Virtual Course Provider by the  IDOE,” said Edmentum Chief Product Officer Todd Mahler. “We are thrilled to extend our partnership by providing Indiana schools with flexible solutions that support student achievement through our approved formative and interim assessment programs.”
