Exploring Health Sciences A/B

Exploring Health Sciences is a two-semester course designed to focus on exploring health care systems, health science careers, and human body systems. Students will learn about the evolution and types of health care facilities in the United States, the function and interdependence of human body systems, and medical terminology. They will also identify parts of the human anatomy, research and write about traditional medicine practices, create informational media on health care issues and careers, and learn first aid procedures. In addition, this course covers the different areas of health care, such as primary care, mental health, public health, and pharmaceuticals, as well as the educational qualifications and skills required for a career in health care. In addition, the course covers the basics of first aid care procedures and medical assisting skills. Through focused mini lessons, students will be introduced to durable skills such as metacognition and critical thinking, and they will have opportunities to practice and begin applying these skills in career-specific activities.
