The impact of Courseware was examined in a rigorous study of 9th grade students during the 2021–22 school year in a large, urban school district in the midwestern United States.

The study found that the use of Courseware Algebra 1 and English 1 was positively related to math and reading achievement on NWEA® MAP® Growth™ assessments.

An average 9th grade student who used the program online through synchronous or asynchronous delivery could accelerate learning for a gain of up to five percentile points in mathematics and up to three percentile points in reading as compared to a student who did not participate in the program.

This quasi-experimental efficacy study for Algebra 1 meets ESSA Tier 2 evidence requirements and the What Works Clearinghouse 5.0 Group Design standards with reservations.
