Creating Balance for IB Learners Using SEL

Developing the whole person is an integral part of the International Baccalaureate curriculum, and a key tenet of that is balance. In this presentation for the IB Virtual Conference 2020 Jen Perry, SEL Designer at Edmentum, spoke about the importance of social-emotional learning through an IB lens. She highlighted it's overlap with the IB learner profile, how it can help students attain the fundamentals of achieving balance, and the impact that it can make on student achievement. Jen shares information on the growing knowledge of the brain and emotions, its impact on learning, recent data that reinforces the importance of creating connections, and tips and resources for integrating SEL into classrooms.
