California Principles of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources A/B
California Principles of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources is a two-semester course designed to promote understanding of the agriculture, food science, and natural resources industries and the careers available within them. Students will examine the history and evolution of agriscience, soil systems, plant and crop science, animal science, and food science and technology. The course places a particular focus on industry regulations, safety practices, emerging technologies, biotechnology, precision farming, and agricultural marketing and world trade. In unit activities, students will create a plan for a supervised agricultural experience, apply problem-solving techniques to conservation and sustainability issues, and explore student organizations in the agriscience field. Students will also identify management and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources industry, develop job acquisition and career advancement skills, and create a business proposal for an agriscience enterprise.
