Cosmetology II A/B
Cosmetology II is a two-semester course designed to develop students' foundational and technical skills in professional makeup, skin care, hair care, and salon operations. Students will learn how to apply basic and advanced makeup techniques, perform facial treatments, demonstrate waxing and cleansing procedures, and follow hygiene and sanitation protocols. They will also expand their expertise in hair services by researching treatments for scalp conditions, practicing hairstyling for natural hair, and performing advanced thermal and wet styling techniques. They will gain proficiency in haircutting through the use of industry-standard tools and techniques, and they will examine the components of salon ownership by comparing business models, designing start-up plans, and exploring customer service, ethics, and salon technology. In addition, the students will learn nail care procedures, including manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements, and decorative nail art. Career-specific activities will help students practice and apply durable skills.
The materials needed for this course include professional makeup kits, skin care products, hair care and styling tools, haircutting supplies, and nail care items. Additional items include sanitation products, disposable applicators, consultation and planning materials, business planning resources, and practice mannequins or diagrams for demonstrations.
