Drafting and Design A/B
Drafting and Design is a two-semester course designed to promote understanding of the fundamental concepts, tools, and techniques used in technical drawing and design. Students will examine the evolution of technical drawing, types of drafting tools and media, drafting conventions, sketching and drawing techniques, types of views and projections, and surface developments and intersections. The course places a particular focus on basic and advanced computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) operations. In unit activities, students will apply geometric construction techniques, interpret detail and assembly drawings, and analyze different types of views and drawings. Students will also describe and apply the design process, develop a prototype, explore various presentation methods, and identify career opportunities, industry certifications, and key professional and personal skills in the drafting and design field.
