Emergency Medical Technician A/B
Emergency Medical Technician is a two-semester course designed to concentrate on the foundational knowledge and practical skills students need for an emergency medical technician (EMT) career. Students will examine the history, components, and operational standards of emergency medical services (EMS) and explore related career pathways. They learn medical terminology and the anatomy and physiology of key human body systems. Additionally, they practice recognizing and managing emergencies, including assessing, treating, and transporting patients. Throughout, students develop strong communication and documentation skills essential for careers in EMS. Students will also explore trauma management in specific patient populations and various parts of the body. Students examine trauma systems and emergency operations, apply knowledge of life-saving techniques, and discuss the importance of ensuring scene and personal safety. Students will develop and apply critical thinking skills.
