Virginia Accounting A/B

Virginia Accounting is a two-semester course designed to promote understanding of fundamental bookkeeping principles, financial statement preparation, and accounting functions for different types of businesses. Students will examine the accounting cycle, books of accounts, and specialized accounting procedures, including cash flow tracking, payroll calculations, and tax accounting. The course places a particular focus on career opportunities, government regulations, and the use of information technology in accounting. In unit activities, students will apply accounting principles to record transactions, prepare financial statements, and analyze businesses for liquidity, solvency, and profitability. Students will also research business case studies involving compliance and regulatory issues, prepare payroll records, and explore career preparation in the accounting field.
