Virginia World History and Geography to 1500 A.D. A/B
Virginia World History and Geography to 1500 is a two-semester course aligned with the 2023 History and Social Science Standards of Learning for Kindergarten - Grade 12 for Grade 9: World History and Geography to 1500 A.D. The course traces major historical developments around the world from early human development through the late Middle Ages, covering the evolution of civilizations, religions, and societies across multiple continents. Students examine early human development and the Neolithic Revolution, the early civilizations of the Middle East and North Africa, the rise of civilizations in India and China along with growth of Hinduism and Buddhism, and later Mediterranean and Middle Eastern civilizations. The course continues with classical civilizations in Asia and the Americas, the development of Greece and Rome, the early medieval period, the growth of African and Asian civilizations during the late medieval period, and the transformation of western Europe through the late Middle Ages. Students analyze historical developments while building critical thinking and analytical skills through structured learning activities.
