Prepare students for high-demand careers

The need for high-quality career and technical education (CTE) is growing. By 2020, two out of three jobs will require some postsecondary education or training. CTE courses can prepare students with critical skills to prepare them for college and careers in high-demand fields including health care, manufacturing, information technology, construction and engineering, and digital communications.

Provide pathways to college and career

Traditional core academic subjects simply don’t resonate with all students. With Edmenum’s CTE curriculum, students develop concrete academic and technical skills with an emphasis on real-world training that align to their interests. CTE courses paired with opportunities for hands-on training, mentorship, and industry engagement, can provide an accelerated path for students to be prepared for both college and career. In fact, the average high school graduation rate for students in CTE programs is 93%—significantly higher than the national average of 80%.

Encourage early career exploration

By offering foundational CTE courses beginning at the middle school level—like Edmentum’s Career Explorations course, and our variety of introductory options—students can discover where their true passions lie. When students are able to identify long-term career goals early on, you can work with them to develop 4- and 6-year plans to support skills development, encourage academic engagement, and ultimately, achieve graduation success.

Courses spanning all 16 Career Clusters®

The National Career Clusters® Framework was created to help educators deliver high-quality CTE programs that help students explore their interests, build essential workplace skills, and bridge secondary and post-secondary curriculum. Edmentum’s industry-leading library of over 100 semester-long Career and Technical Education courses, is built around video-rich, interactive curriculum, and covers all 16 nationally recognized clusters aligned to over 79 Career Pathways.

Support CTE certification preparation

In response to the growing demand for CTE, more and more field- and state-specific certification programs are being developed to provide pathways directly in to high-demand fields. Edmentum CTE courses cover a depth of content that supports students preparing for these types of certifications, including the National Nurse Aid Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam which is used to grant the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in 23 states and the CompTIA exam which grants the A+ certification to IT professionals.
